Waterline Design

Waterlines meet distribution needs within developments as well as transmission needs to extend service to areas to be served. Waterline design must address not only domestic consumption, but also needs of fire and irrigation, though the later is increasing addressed with non-potable water where possible. Capacity and reliability, usually addressed through looping lines for multiple points of connectivity, are key elements addressed by design.

Waterline design at Landplan is approached from three aspects: efficiency of routing through a development, community and overall system connectivity and reliability, and coordination with other buried systems. The later requires separation from sewers as well as ease of accessibility. Waterlines are planned to cost-effectively provide appropriate levels of service to all lots and buildings, while placing hydrants to meet fire department regulations and functional needs. Developments do not stand alone; Landplan looks to the needs of future additions to a Client’s development as well as opportunities to cost-effectively enhance system loops. The firm assists with water system permitting at the state level to complete design services.
