As our name implies, Landplan Engineering is committed to protecting and preserving our environment to the highest extent possible for rural and urban developments. Many of our staff are LEEDTM (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accredited professionals as defined by the US Green Building Council.
Opportunities abound to positively impact our environment. Site selection, topography, impervious cover, lighting, and stormwater runoff are all key elements to be considered when evaluating and designing a project site. Each element is not only linked to a LEED credit, but also to the long-term maintenance and operating cost of the project.
Creating a sustainable site involves well thought-out and focused planning. The layout of site utilities, vehicular and pedestrian circulation, and parking lot placement can affect and present opportunities to limit overall site disturbance, preserve existing natural areas, and integrate Best Management Practices (BMPs), such as bio-swales, bio-retention cells, hydrodynamic devices and vegetated swales, into the site. Each of these can contribute to lowering long-term maintenance while providing an example of responsible planning that reduces the impact of development. The list of successful LEED projects for Landplan Engineering continues to grow.
