Park Planning

Park planning must measure the public’s demand for green space and recreation, much as a business assesses its customers’ needs. Location, access, and activities supported must be assessed against available resources. Park planning addresses short-term and long-term needs, often allowing for expansion of activities.

Landplan provides comprehensive park planning services for city, county, and state departments as well as for individual parks. Spectacular communities involve parks that function within neighborhoods as well as providing regional recreation centers. Playgrounds, bike trails, playing fields, skateboard areas are planned in concert with the setting and the public’s needs. Working with neighborhood groups and client maintenance staff focuses planning on park users concerns while addressing issues of on-going costs. Safety and security issues are incorporated in the firm’s park plans as are environmental benefits and may include looking for opportunities to address regional stormwater needs.
