
Isle Royale National Park, Michigan
Landplan Engineering, leading a diverse team of planners, architects and engineers, provided multi-disciplinary facility assessment, needs analysis, planning and design services for this National Park Service island compound. Services included condition assessment and building code compliance review for 17 structures. This intensive building and site survey was complemented by a site analysis reviewing existing trails, vehicular access, water supply system, electric generating system, sewage treatment and collection system, natural vegetation, on-site recreation space, lake access for recreational boating, views of scenery (Lake Superior, forest, moose, etc.) and building location relationships to other functions (administrative offices, maintenance shops, housing and recreation).
