LAKE RECREATIONAL FACILITIES

The Kansas Department
of Wildlife and Parks retained Landplan Engineering to implement
recommendations contained in a previous master plan (by others).
Landplan provided land surveying, assessed existing plans and
improvements, and designed new trail systems, use areas and recreational
facilities with infrastructure at this Corps of Engineers reservoir.
Facilities designed by Landplan include sanitary sewers, water service,
electrical service, bathhouse locations, swimming beaches, picnic areas,
parking, roadways, campgrounds for recreational vehicles and tent sites.
Waterfront entry points for sailboards, boats and skiers were also
constructed.
Site-sensitive design was facilitated by many on-site investigations
undertaken collectively with KDWP and Park operations staff. Key
directives to improvement placement included minimizing impact to the
site; minimizing facility maintenance; and providing attractive,
functional improvements which provide significant recreational
opportunities to the public.
