Golf Course Superintendent's Association of America Headquarters

Lawrence, KS

The Golf Course Superintendent’s Association of America facility serves as the national headquarters for GCSAA activities. The 44,000 square-foot facility was constructed overlooking a planned 18-hole golf course in a research park development in Lawrence, Kansas. Because of the functions of the superintendents and their responsibility for environmental issues in golf course design and turf management, special consideration was given to materials, site and area environmental issues, and visual impact.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, Landplan Engineering provided landscape architectural, civil engineering and surveying services for Phases I and II of the development of the 10.74-acre site. Specific responsibilities included:

  • Multiple site evaluation
  • Site design
  • Site plans for local jurisdiction approval
  • Topographic and boundary surveys
  • Design of all public infrastructure improvements serving the site
  • Detailed site construction documents for all parking, grading, fountains, landscaping, lighting, irrigation, walks and courtyards
  • Design of parking facilities
  • On-site construction observation

The project also involved the design of public streets, waterline, and sanitary and storm sewer improvements.
