Olathe, Kansas
The City of Olathe, Kansas selected Landplan Engineering to provide preliminary and final design for approximately two miles of multi-use recreational trail in 2006. This TEA-21 funded project connects to the existing Indian Creek Trail and the dedicated greenbelt southerly from 127th Street to 133rd Street. This project required several crossings along the drainageway, including a grade separated crossing at 127th Street. Three different types of bridges are incorporated into the trail, as is an underpass beneath 127th Street. Landplan’s services included topographic and boundary surveys, geotechnical investigation/environmental assessment, site analysis, conceptual, public input, coordination with utility companies and affected property owners, preliminary design plans, cost estimating, and final plans. Landplan also assisted the City with right-of-way acquisition, including condemnation hearings. Construction began in March 2008 and the $1 million trail project was completed in late Fall 2008.
