LAKE ADULT SOFTBALL COMPLEX

Working with the City of Lawrence Parks & Recreation Department,
Landplan Engineering developed the master plan for this Adult Softball
Complex located in southwest Lawrence, Kansas adjacent to the Youth
Sports, Inc. recreation complex. The goal of this facility is to serve
the diverse and rapidly growing recreational needs of the Lawrence
community. This 68-acre complex is planned to include ten adult softball
fields, parking for approximately 940 vehicles, pedestrian trails, play
equipment and shelters, wetland habitat, bicycle trails, concessions and
batting cages.
Landplan also provided design and construction documentation services
for Phase I implementation of this complex. This $1.6 million initial
project includes four (4) adult softball fields, batting cages,
concessions, parking, lighting, playground equipment, site improvements
and other associated facilities. The lighted softball fields feature
300-foot fences, warning tracks, “Turface” infields, and irrigated
outfields.
Landplan Engineering, as the lead consultant, coordinated the efforts of
architects and other engineers. Phase I construction began in 1996 and
the complex opened for play in May 1997.
